25 full paper submissions have been received. They were submitted to a blind peer review process, that resulted in 87 completed reviews, with an average of more than 3 reviews per paper. The 12 selected papers will be presented on October 22th, in 3 sessions, and afterwards submitted to publication. This very selective process makes the FOSS4G academic track a more and more reputed and visible event in the geospatial scientific comunity. Nevertheless, the FOSS4G 2009 academic track will bring together researchers, developers, users and practitioners carrying out research and development in the geospatial and the free and open source fields and willing to share original and recent research developments and experiences.
Good papers submitted to the academic track but not selected could be presented in the general track, if the public has positively voted on it. Final abstract selections will be announced on July 20, 2009. So stay tuned!
The FOSS4G 2009 LOC and the academic track chairs want to sincerely thank the authors and reviewers for their support to the organisation of the FOSS4G 2009 conference.
