I’m confused by the third line in this set of instructions:

Then go to your MediaWiki user page (by clicking on your Name First Last as it appears in the upper right menu of the Wiki)
and edit it. The URL of this page looks something like "http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/User:First Last".

Select the "edit" link and add a MediaWiki redirect link to this page.
This will forward the user to the page you just created under your full name.

If your user page is at [[User:FLast]], then add this line: "http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/First_Last"

Don't forget to save your new page.

Is that third line an attempt to explain a redirect? Or is it simply to an alternative to the first line if the User: is formatted differently?

If the former, it’s not clear and I don’t think it works; I’ve added the text i.e. a single line “#REDIRECT [[First Last]]” to the second line since that follows the help instructions and works for me.

If the latter, I’d rewrite this as:

Then go to your MediaWiki user page (by clicking on your Name First Last as it appears in the upper right menu of the Wiki)
and edit it. The URL of this page looks something like "http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/User:First Last",
or possibly “http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/User:FLast”.

Select the "edit" link and add a MediaWiki redirect link to this page, i.e. a single line “#REDIRECT [[First Last]]”.
This will forward the user to the page you just created under your full name.

Don't forget to save your redirected page.
