Charlie's idea for wiki sprint: Delete this and change to the list of subcommittee to dos for the next 3 months

Working groups are loosely coupled groups of individuals focusing on certain parts of the Education and Curriculum Committee mandate.

If you want a particular group, add it to the list and provide a goal for the group. When it comes time for reporting back to the membership and board, we can all briefly update the activities/status of the working group.

Data Package Group

Goal

  • Produce a data package for common use in tutorials

Method

  • Work with Public Geospatial Data Committee where needed
  • Work with software projects to provide data package in meaningful format for their tool
  • Use data package as a reference in writing tutorials

Education Resources Group

Goal

  • Collect links to and describe educational resources
  • Develop an "Introduction to GIS" course and courseware
  • Support educators in their usage of GFOSS

  • Find people to test use what we will develop
  • Promote GFOSS to colleagues

Goal

  • Produce and maintain the Free GIS Book started by EOGEO

Status

  • Just starting. Allan Doyle will investigate the logistics of moving the project from EOGEO to OSGeo.

update: we are waiting for mediawiki to be installed on telascience's server, and then wikibooks.osgeo.org will point to that. At that point, the content will be moved from eogeo.org to the new space.
