Cristina is a PhD student with the Nottingham Geospatial Institute, University of Nottingham, focusing on the use of Earth Observation data for mapping geological phenomena and assessing the link with natural GHG emissions and climate change contribution. Previously, she earned a Master's degree on Geospatial Information Systems from the University of Bucharest, with a thesis on satellite altimetry. She has worked as a GIS Specialist in Romania, participating in national projects related to hazard mapping. Her recent work as a EO Data Applications Engineer YGT for the European Space Agency focused on automated geohazard mapping, organizing thematic sessions for promoting EO data and services and contributing to the development of training material.

Cristina participated as a volunteer along the geo-spatial.org members, being actively involved in the yearly seminaries held by the chapter in Romania and carrying work on promoting cartography and geospatial education as an Acting Secretary of the Romanian Cartographic Association. She has been recently involved in the organization of FOSS4G 2019 as a LOC member.
