The first time I used FOSS4G was in 2003, during my master program in Bandung Institute of Technology. I used GRASS GIS and R for analyzing Landsat to detect forest fragmentation in West Java, Indonesia. Since then, I always use FOSS4G for my works and always encourage my colleagues to use it also.
