Fossgis08-logo.png The FOSSGIS conference is the German language sibling of the FOSS4G conferences.

The FOSSGIS has taken place for the sixth time. This event took place in Freiburg, Germany on April 01-03, 2008. This year was probably the last where sponsors and paid-for workshops alone allowed for the main program to be free of cost to attend!

FOSSGIS 2008 - Program Finalized

The German speaking Open Source GIS community meets from April 1st through 4th 2008 in Freiburg, Germany to the yearly conference and fair.

The final program is now available and the organizing committee is happy to invite you to register.

44 Presentations will be held in technical, community, research, scientific and business blocks. Presentations are held by FOSSGIS practitioners and address developers, user and decision maker. Topics cover all walks of geo life starting with reports from the fast growing community project OpenStreetMap running along Ruby on Rails, latest software presentations and stretching to ministerial success stories about completely FOSS based spatial data infrastructures.

This year's workshop program introduces the software projects OpenLayers, Mapbender, kvwmap, GRASS, QGIS, gvSIG, deegree, UMN MapServer and GeoServer. Thematic workshops cover geo portal solutions, sensor GIS and a full scale SDI on a Live-CD.

Workshop fees are €80,- per attendee and will as in the last years help to fund the conference.

Throughout the conference the sponsoring companies will operate booths in the exhibition area to highlight the latest technology, show new products and solutions and talk business. The social event will take place in the Wodanhalle on the first day of the conference (Tuesday, April 1st).

Admission for the full program of the conference is free of cost for everybody but please make sure to register before March 25th!
