|−|Dr. CHOI obtained a master and Ph.D. degree from Hanyang university by researching "Applying case based reasoning approach for spatial analysis" and "Analysis of location changes of ICT firm's inter-regional movement" in urban planning. After that, he worked at urban information research center and research group for mass transit reform in Seoul Institute and policy research center in Korea Local Information research and Development(KLID) until 2006. From 2006, he participated in the various national projects and researches on urban development and housing statistics and related spatial policy support systems in Korea Land and Housing corporation(LH). |+|

Dr. CHOI obtained a master and Ph.D. degree in urban planning and GIS. His careers are mainly about the various national projects and researches on urban development and housing statistics and related spatial policy support systems.
Regarding the open source geospatial activities, he translated GRASS document from English to Korean such as a Introduction to GRASS(MARKUS NETELER) and technical manuals of GRASS which were funded from KSIC in 2000. In 2012, he participated in OSGeo Korean chapter's translation of QGIS 1.7.0 user guide into Korean. In 2015, he organized Open Source GIS for UN and Developing Countries FOSS4G for UN and developing countries session at the FOSS4G Seoul 2015 conference and supported the MOU between OSGeo foundation and Korea Land and Housing corp. LH, Korean public company. According to the MOU condition, in 2016, OSGeo Korean chapter and LH is preparing local conference to boost the open geospatial community in Korea.
His current interest is spatial big data for the smart cities in emerging mega cities and measuring and monitoring UN Sustainable Development Goal and new urban agenda of UN HABITAT III using FOSS4G.
