GeoPBF is an optimized binary format for geospatial data, built upon Google's Protocol Buffers (PBF) architecture. If you wish to participate in QGIS localization during this Community Sprint but do not yet have a Transifex account, please create one by joining the QGIS group in advance. You cannot perform localization work on Transifex until your request has been approved by that language's leader. As the approval process may take some time, we recommend creating your account and applying to join your language group beforehand.
GeoPBF is an optimized binary format for geospatial data, built upon Google's Protocol Buffers (PBF) architecture. It combines the efficiency of Protobuf with specific optimizations for geographic information: **integer-scaled, delta-encoded coordinates** and a **global key dictionary** for attributes. Together these make a GeoPBF file roughly one tenth the size of the equivalent GeoJSON.

== Community Sprint ==

This year, we are following the OSGeo tradition of hosting a community sprint right after [https://2026.foss4g.org/en/ FOSS4G 2026].

Participation is free of charge and anyone involved or interested in getting involved in OSGeo community projects is welcome.

Furthermore, community sprints provide an opportunity for those with little experience in FOSS4G community activities, or those who want to start community activities, to learn how to conduct community activities from more experienced members.

You can choose to contribute to one or more projects. The sky is the limit. There’s always plenty to do – it’s not all about programming. Translation, documentation, feedback, discussions, and testing are very important for projects! Conference registration is not a prerequisite for participation in community sprint.

=== When ===
