The Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) has a [https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Category:Code_Sprints longstanding tradition] of organizing code sprints for developers of Open Source geospatial software.

An international community/code sprint for OSGeo will take place from 29 September to 03 October 2025.

Over 80 developers from all over the world are expected to attend, from various [https://www.osgeo.org/, OSGeo] projects. Whether desktop application, geospatial library, metadata catalogue or web mapping: be sure to find products in the list that you use. The sprint is also an opportunity for your developers to meet with the core developers of the projects, get a deeper insight into the software and participate in the development.

The sprint will take place in Riga and will be hosted by [https://www.bigdatafromspace2025.org, Big Data From Space '25] and organized by members of the local OSGeo chapter.

In addition to the costs of providing the technical infrastructure and space, food and drink for the developers represents the main cost. Morning/afternoon meals and drinks during the day are planned. In addition, we hope to provide several evening meals and social events.

The OSGeo Community Sprint 2023 will be hosted by the Big Data from Space 2023 (BiDS) event.

BiDS brings together key actors from industry, academia, EU entities and government to reveal user needs, exchange ideas and showcase latest technical solutions and applications touching all aspects of space and big data technologies, providing a unique opportunity to discuss and present the most recent innovations and challenges encountered in the context of big data from space. The 2023 edition of BiDS will focus not only technologies enabling insight and foresight inferable from big data from space. Together, we want to emphasize how breakthrough space data driven technologies impact on society’s grand challenges, such as climate change and the green transition.

The Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) has a long tradition of organizing code sprints for developers of Open Source GIS software.

An international community/code sprint for OSGeo will take place Nov 6-9, 2023.

== Vuosikokoukset ==

Yhdistyksen ensimmäinen vuosikokous pidettiin 12.4.2016 Siton tiloissa.

Kokouksessa oli läsnä hallitus, joka valittiin myös jatkamaan uutena hallituksena. Toiminnantarkastajaksi ja vara-toiminnantarkastajaksi valittiin Antti Castrén ja Pertti Sundqvist. Hyväksyttiin toimintasuunnitelma ja viitteellinen budjetti vuodelle 2016. Hyväksyttiin jäsenmaksuksi 15 euroa, jonka voi maksaa tällä sivulla olevan linkin kautta yhdistyksen tilille Holviin.

GeoServer Code Sprint 2016

== Purpose ==

The GeoServer web administration console is built on top of the [https://wicket.apache.org/ Wicket] 1.4.x series,
which is pretty old and unmaintaned. The purpose of the sprint is to update it to Wicket 7.x, the current stable version.

Due to the large distance between the two releases and the number of backwards incompatible changes accumulated
by Wicket in the years this will require the concerted effort of a handful of developers over a few days, including the

== Venue and dates ==

The code sprint will be held in Victoria BC to minimize travel costs. Boundless has offered to provide a venue (either the Boundless Victoria offices or a local technology centre).

The date is tentatively set for the week of January 18th.

This date is selected towards of the GeoServer 2.9 release cycle prior to the code freeze in February, keeping resource availability in mind.

== Sprint ==

The schedule has been broken down by day to help plan activities for those with limited availability. If you can stop by for an afternoon to help with testing, or volunteer online to test a nightly build, please let the team know.

In scope:

* Use of Java 8 syntax to reduce wicket boiler plate code
* Mike Pumphrey will be on hand to update user guide as each screen is completes manual testing

* Changing the codebase to use a different library (the effort would be at least an order of magnitude bigger)
