During the [http://www.foss4g2007.org/ FOSS4G2007 conference] in Victoria, BC, Canada, there will be conference rooms available for people to hold Birds-of-a-Feather sessions.

== Tuesday September 25, 2007 ==
This is the primary BOF time slot.
* BOF sessions are scheduled from 16:45 to 19:00
* Labs and Presentations are scheduled to end at 16:30
* There is the possibility of sponsored events starting at 19:00
== Wednesday September 26, 2007 ==
This is a 'backup' BOF time slot.
* BOF sessions are scheduled from 16:45 to 17:45
* the [http://www.foss4g2007.org/events/ Dinner Reception at the Royal BC Museum] starts at 18:00
* Please only use this time slot if necessary. Many people will need to leave by 17:45 in order to be at the Dinner Reception on time.

Why Autodesk

Why should Autodesk donate its software to, participate in and support the OSGeo community?

* MapGuide Open Source gets fixed faster; many eyes make bugs shallow and improvements are fed back to the proprietary offering. The MapGuide Open Source project strongly encourages community participation to achieve these results.
* Increasingly many government contracts are mandating or encouraging open source software. This is a huge market for consultancy and support.
* Displacing patent/copyright infringement liability from an entity is a good reason to have code in a foundation, and important that foundation not be a "front"; it has to involve engagement with the broader community.
* "A rising tide raises all boats"; the webserver market is driven by oen big open source project. Availability of free of cost software and support for open standards will grow the market in many new ways.

The AU event is expected to draw more then 5,000 attendees. This year the event is held November 27-Dec 1, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Autodesk have graciously helped to organise the booth and its contents on behalf of OSGeo. This will include a 10x10 foot booth space, a graphic backdrop, computer monitor, stools, literature rack and more.
