Alex is an Associate Professor in Geoinformatics at the Landscape Geoinformatics Lab, University of Tartu. He is a Distributed Spatial Systems Researcher with many years of experience in geospatial data management and web- and cloud-based geoprocessing, with a focus on land use, soils, hydrology, hydrogeology and water quality data. He is interested in OGC standards and web services for environmental and geo-scientific data sharing, modelling workflows and interactive geo-scientific visualisation.<br />

He works on open-source Discrete Global Grid System (DGGS) tools and standards, linking OGC, academia and the OSGeo community. He co-chairs the OGC DGGS Standards Working Group and develops [https://github.com/allixender/dggrid4py dggrid4py] (Python interface to DGGRID) and [https://github.com/LandscapeGeoinformatics/pydggsapi pydggsapi] (OGC API – DGGS server).
