En dos eventos distintos se ha manifestado la intención de crear un Capitulo Local OSGeo de idioma Español.<br />
El primero tuvo lugar [http://wiki.osgeo.org/index.php/Resultados_del_Tutorial_ISSTOCAM_WebGIS ISSTOCAM WebGIS Meeting] en Ostende, Belgica (resultando en la página [[Sudamerica]]) y el segundo han sido las [[Meeting_Girona| I Jornadas de SIG Libre]] en Girona, España.<br />
Se trata de un muy buen comienzo para juntar esfuerzos y crear una comunidad muy amplia dentro de OSGeo.<br />
