I'd love to see if we can use the new [http://trac.osgeo.org/gdal/wiki/Correlator GDAL Surf Correlator] or the classes in the [http://www.orfeo-toolbox.org/SoftwareGuide/SoftwareGuidech9.html Orfeo Toolbox] which seem to do have the fundamental algorithms that we would need. IMHO, building a GUI would not be out of the question (web or native or whatever).
