Election 2012

This is a DRAFT version and has not yet been approved!

The 2012 OSGeo The Charter Members election will be held this summer, followed by the Board elections so that the new board can meet face-to-face at FOSS4G.

This election schedule has to be approved by vote on the board mailing list (add link).

Board Election

Following the Board Election Procedure there are 5 seats up for election this year.
Arnulf Christl, Frank Warmerdam, Daniel Morissette, Tim Schaub have reached the end of their 2-year term. Board members wishing to stand in the 2012 election must receive a nomination, like any other candidate.
- Arnulf Christl already confirmed that he is not planning to stand for re-election.
- Daniel Morissette is planning to stand for re-election if he gets a nomination
Continuing Board members who have another year to serve are Peter Batty, Jo Cook, Michael Gerlek, Mark Lucas

Nominate new Board Members - (dates to be confirmed!) 2012-07-27 - 2012-08-05

Please confirm with the person that they would like to stand for election as a Board member
Email a nomination, consisting of name and a paragraph describing why you think this person would make a good Board member, to cro@osgeo.org by 23:59 (your time zone) on Sunday 5th August 2012
Please also cc: the nomination to the OSGeo discussion list - discuss@lists.osgeo.org - so the community can be nudged along and have a sense of what is going on.
Remember that only Charter Members of OSGeo are eligible for a seat on the Board

Note that we had a tie for the 20th slot, so it was decided by the CRO to welcome 21 new charter members for this year instead of 20 since that still fits within the limits of 20% new charter members set by the board at the 2011-09-17 board meeting (i.e. 20% of 104 = 20.8)
