This page describes software and hardware environments in PC classrooms. 3 environments (A, B, C) have been created, depending on hardware profiles. One environment is shared by many Workshops, see details below.

General Setup

Windows user: Administrator // Password: foss4g

System (boot) drive: D:

Base software installed in all classrooms:

  • Windows XP
  • Office 2007
  • OpenOffice 3.0
  • FireFox 3.6.6 (Direct link on Desktop)
  • VirtualBox client 3.2.6 (Direct link on Desktop)
  • Notepad++ 5.7

A. Classroom C6.S302

Hardware:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo 6320 1.86 Ghz.
  • 2GB RAM.
  • Monitor CRT 17".
  • Nvidia Geforce 6200. DVD-ROM.

W4-PostGis

  • Workshop materials unzipped in "W4-PostGis" folder on Desktop.
  • OpenGeo Suite 2.0.1 installed w/default options. Direct access to Dashboard on Desktop.
  • No VirtualBox client installed; but installable is available in "My Documents/Downloads".

W11-OpenLayers

  • Workshop materials unzipped in "W11-OpenLayers" folder on Desktop. [OL_WORKSHOP] is "D:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\W11-OpenLayers\".
  • Provided OpenGeo Suite 2.0.0 has NOT been installed (Sharing the OpenGeo Suite 2.0.1 installation of W4-PosGis).
  • Apache required => Installed XAMPP-lite 1.7.3 in "D:\xampplite". Direct access to XAMPP Control Panel on Desktop.
  • /ol_workshop and /geoserver urls visible from localhost port 80.
  • No VirtualBox client installed; but installable is available in "My Documents/Downloads".

B. Classrooms C6.S306 and C6.S308

Hardware:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00 Ghz.
  • 2GB RAM.
  • Monitor HP L1750 TFT 17".
  • ATI Radeon X1300.
  • DVD-ROM.

W5-Mapbender

(Will use LiveDVD. No data needed. Printed materials coming soon)

W6-Python

  • VirtualBox image in "W6-Python" folder on Desktop.
  • Image tested and running: network access ok, PostgreSQL running.

W12-GeoNetwork

(Will bring their own software and printed materials)

W13-Java

  • JDK installed in "D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20".
  • Eclipse installed in "D:\java\eclipse", direct link on desktop.
  • eclipse.ini with -vm "D:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin".
  • .m2 unzipped in "D:\Documents and Settings\Administrator"
  • Data unzipped in "My Documents\data" and "My Documents\110m-cultural".

C. Classrooms B5.S101, B5.S201, B5.S202 and C6.S309

Hardware:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.1 Ghz.
  • 4GB RAM.
  • Monitor HP L1950g TFT 19".
  • ASUS EAH3450 Series 1GB (512MB), compatible ATI Radeon HD 34xx.
  • DVD-ROM.

W1-GeoServer

  • "doc", "software", "data" and "styles" folders under "W1-GeoServer" on Desktop.
  • Installed Google Earth 5.2.1.1329, direct link on Desktop.

W2-gvSIG

(VirtualBox image is on its way - jul 23)

W3-OpenStreetMap

  • VirtualBox image *finally* unzipped and working.
  • Alternative materials (for Windows) under "W3-OpenStreetMap" on Desktop.

W7-ZOO

(Installation pending; downloading Arramagong 3.0...)

W8-MapServer

  • ms4w installed in D: => changed some hardcoded drive units in ms101.
  • Apache running @locahost.

W9-QGis

(No soft provided)

W10-pgRouting

Will use LiveDVD 4 and bring their own printed materials.

  • Note: Downloaded LiveDVD-v4-beta3, works ok (not much testing though).

W14-GRASS

(Virtual Image & materials uploaded - jul 22)
