Introduction

Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions are unstructured timeslots where people can self-organise themselves to discuss topics of interest.

General Information

During the FOSS4G 2015 conference in Seoul, South Korea, there will be a number of spaces for people to hold Birds of a Feather sessions.

Rooms

We have available 5 rooms, that includes the grand ballroom (also used for plenary talks). The rooms will be available during lunch(12:20~13:20) and directly after the end of the talks, for 1 hour, on Day1 (Wednesday) and Day 2 (Thursday).

OSGeo Diversity BOF

  • Description: Discuss how to make sure that everyone in our community is safe and respected, and accepting to cultural differences.
  • When/Where: Wednesday 17:40-18:30, GrandBallroom B.

Who is coming:

Censorship in Korean Maps

  • Description: A presentation / exchange about an artist's approach to censorship in maps. I will show examples of the inconsistent and strange ways Korean maps and aerial/orbital imagery is censored and compare it to uncensored data. I'll also present my art book with the title: Eighteen Secret Golf Courses. It features illustrations of golf courses you aren't allowed to see. It's based on OSM data.

Crowdsourcing BOF

  • Description: How to adapt to VGI, crowdsourcing and citizen science data. Quality assurence & process chaining. Data conflation using semantic technologies. App & sensor kits development. Privacy. Interoperability Standards/Formats: OSM/Darwin Core/geojson/geopackage/SOS. Tools for visualising, analysing and managing. Serious gaming. Community mapping.
