OSGeo-Live Google Summer of Code ideas 2015

OSGeo-Live is a self-contained bootable DVD, USB thumb drive or Virtual Machine based on Lubuntu, that allows you to try a wide variety of open source geospatial software without installing anything. It is composed entirely of free software, allowing it to be freely distributed, duplicated and passed around. It provides pre-configured applications for a range of geospatial use cases, including storage, publishing, viewing, analysis and manipulation of data. It also contains sample datasets and documentation.

OSGeo-Live Dashboard

This GSoC 2016 Idea will focus on the development of a web dashboard based on the software and data installed on OSGeo-Live. It will be based on the jupyter gui widget. The dashboard can teach how to “bind” together , code and gui using basic examples. It can be considered a cross project idea where geospatial tools (installed on OSGeo-Live) and data (already on OSGeo-Live) are used to build web-application to visualize and interact with the data and with dataproducts (generated by using the software libraries installed). The results is reusable-code to build web applications.
