This is the community Wiki of the [http://www.osgeo.org/ Open Source Geospatial Foundation]. Please refer to the official web site at http://www.osgeo.org/ for stable documents and policies. This Wiki is the place where documents can be created collaboratively (ie. adoption processes, user hints, suggestions, committee notes, etc.). All web pages that are adopted as official documents will be moved to a CVS or SVN and subsequently appear at the [http://www.osgeo.org/ OSGeo] web site, which is the only official place for documents.

Introduction to the Open Source Geospatial Foundation Wiki

This is the community Wiki of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation. Please refer to the official web site for official documents and policies. This Wiki is the place where documents such as committee notes, discussion on software projects, and proposals can be created collaboratively.

See Getting Started for how to dive in and get involved. We have Local Chapters, which work regionally and in other languages. We also have many active Mailing Lists for discussions. Take a moment to visit our Library. We have a list of email Contacts for various projects and functions.

The OSGeo has an official structure but the movement is much larger. You are free to join us and add yourself to this OSGeo Member List.

Committees

Committees are part of the official structure of OSGeo. This is where the work gets done. Committees meet on the IRC on #osgeo or use conference calls. For a list of scheduled or regularly scheduled meetings of many of the committees check the Foundation Calendar. From the committees' pages you will find the missions, names of the people involved, and links to the working documents.

Informal participation in committees via mailing list, Wiki contributions and meeting attendance is encouraged by all interested parties!

Networking

OSGeo means community based development. We work at both global and local level. Check here for joining active communities:
