I don't know if it's the same for everyone, but I followed this tutorial to the letter and had two issues...
1) I had to apply the patch listed at http://trac.osgeo.org/mapguide/ticket/347
2) I had to add "AddHandler cgi-script .fcgi" into my httpd.conf for MapGuide's Apache
I'm new here so I'm not going to add anything to the main page, but maybe someone more experienced could?

I noticed that I needed libace-dev as well in order to compile.
