I also just starting working on a directory of geodata websites worldwide -- there are so many out there! The general plan is to keep it up to date by harvesting links from delicious, twitter, known lists of geodata links, etc. As new sites are identified, they will be lightly described and approved by a human reviewer. I work with CUGIR, an open data repository for New York state.
