I am a long time Open Source developer/user who had a change of heart and decided to tackle the Geospatial world head-on, leaving the well-known and comfortable world of Operating Systems. My personal interests are largely related to Synthetic Aperture RADAR -- from focusing raw signals and methods of estimating signal parameters through to practical applications in urban planning, wetlands research and agriculture, especially through polarimetry. I have a strange obsession with non-linear systems and minimizing uncertainty in automated classification and analysis, though I'll be the first to admit that I still have a long ways to go in my understanding of both.

I am presently an undergraduate student at Carleton University with an unknown amount of time remaining. I've recently jumped into the Geomatics program there, and hope to, whenever I graduate, pursue graduate studies. I'd like to further the cause of SAR, since it is a tool that is only recently becoming feasable for a wider varieties of applications, due to the soon-to-be increased availability of high resolution polarimetric SAR data from TerraSAR-X, RADARSAT-2 and PALSAR/ALOS.

My personal website can be found at [1] though I rarely update it. I've been contributing most actively to the GDAL project of late, though I've had to scale back contributions to GDAL due to the amount of time I work at my job at PCI Geomatics. You can contact me via email, philippe@cowpig.ca.
