Welcome to my personal corner in Osgeo wiki. My name is Victor Ferreira, i am an Architect, and at this moment i teach at the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon ([1]).I am now trying to finish a dissertation in Urban Planning.

Personal Interests

  • 3D Scanning - 3D scanning, from small scale objects to urban areas - Laser Scanner (ZF, Faro), Photogrammetry (Photomodeler, Topcon), SFM (Structure from Motion). Lately i have deen giving more time to SFM (SFM toolkits of Josh Harle and Henri Astre for example) to create 3D point clouds from photos (taken from the ground and from helium balloon). The Research group with whom i wor is at Archc3D.
  • FOSS4G an Osgeo - my interest goes to mapping for urban planning and architecture, specially if it envolves 3D and user generated content. Helping out with the portuguese local chapter.
  • Public Participation (in local planning and related with geovisualization.
  • Open Source - and i mean open source "everything": hardware, software, design....
  • Rapid Prototyping and Fabrication - CNC Routers, Laser cutters, 3D printers, open source 3D printers (Makerbot - helped to mount some Makerbot kits and printed some models with them) - i already tried all this technologies in producing scale models of buildings and urban areas!

Bem-vindo ao meu canto pessoal aqui no Wiki do Osgeo. Chamo-me Victor Ferreira, sou Arquitecto de formação, e neste momento desempenho as funções de Assistente na Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa ([2]). Encontro-me em processo de elaboração de Dissertação de Doutoramento em Planeamento Urbano (no Instituto Superior Técnico).

Interesses pessoais

  • Sistemas de Informação Geográfica - GIS (open source)
  • Participação Pública (mais concretamente em Processos de Planeamento Local - PDM /PP / PU).
  • Software de Código Aberto.
  • Prototipagem rápida e fabricação (traduzindo em português: maquetas físicas de arquitectura e zonas urbanas produzidas em máquinas ferramenta - Fresas CNC / Impressoras 3D / Mesas de Corte Laser - a partir de modelos digitais).
  • Digitalização 3D de Edifícios com Digitalizadores Laser Terrestres e Fotogrametria (Projecto de investigação a decorrer neste momento na FAUTL).
  • Passar tempo com a família :-)(não obrigatoriamente por esta ordem!).
