   - Jeff McKenna - OSGeo President and Mapserver guru
   - Tim Sutton - OSGeo charter member and Mr QGIS South Africa
   - Gavin Fleming - OSGeo charter member and general FOSS GIS advocate and user
   - other volunteers

We could do any or all of the below, or whatever you can dream up:

- talks - mini workshops - discussion - mapping - cartography - installing and setting up software - demonstrations

Software: QGIS, PostGIS, MapServer, Geoserver, OpenLayers, STDM, FLOSS SOLA, OSGeo Live and more

Please indicate on this page if you are interested and likely to come, or if you have any ideas for the day.

One great idea suggested already is to talk about / set up / apply the new STDM (Social Tenure Domain Model) that was launched at FIG last week in Malaysia. It is implemented as an Open Source QGIS plugin that uses PostgreSQL 9.2 with PostGIS 2.1.

STDM is a land information tool developed on FOSS that offers a complementary land administration system that is pro-poor, gender-sensitive, affordable and sustainable: http://www.stdm.gltn.net/

We don't have our own OSGeo stall at the main conference but will hang an OSGeo banner either at the GISSA or 1Map stand.

FAQ

  • **Do I need to be a FOSS GIS guru?** It will help if you know your way around the FOSS GIS stack, but nobody needs to be a guru.
  • **Will I earn money for doing this?** In the afterlife maybe, in this one you will probably need to part with some of your hard earned cash to cover conference fees and perhaps chip in for goodies for the stand.

Social Activities

Lets get together for a OSGeo Africa Chapter meetup while we are there!
