Web Marketing

Placing banner ads one some of the high-traffic open source project sites is a huge source of referrals. The conference web site already receives the majority of its referrals from open source web site announcements, with GRASS as the top site so far.

Banner placement should probably proceed in earnest after the opening of registration.

The following sites have committed to doing banner placement:

  • GRASS (Markus Neteler)
  • PostGIS (Paul Ramsey) - Banner added 14 Feb 2007
  • Mapserver (Steve Lime)
  • MapWindow (Dan Ames) - Banner added to wwww.MapWindow.org main page 21 Feb 2007
  • [FOSSGIS] (Arnulf Christl) - Banner added to main page 2/23.
  • WhereGroup.com (Arnulf Christl) - Banner added, link to a couple of FOSS4G2007 pages 2/23.
  • Mapbender (Arnulf Christl) - Banner added to main page 2/24.
  • GIS Jobs Clearinghouse (Steve Lime) - Banner added 2/22.
  • GeoNetwork opensource (Jeroen Ticheler) - Banner added to http://geonetwork-opensource.org on 27 Feb 2007
