Your enthousiasm (computers and mice will be available for everyone)
A dish and/or something to drink (potluck dinner)
If it is possible : your OpenStreetMap ID and password (to get access to your personal account: https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/new)
What will we do?
We will learn how to use OpenStreetMap
We will improve the map, adding useful resources to it (starting from the data from several associations)
OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a citizen-based map that anyone can easily edit ; it is the Wikipedia of maps, so to say. Right after the volunteers would click of the 'save' button, the map will immediately be updated and available for everyone. It will finally provide a useful tool to Brussels associations and NGO's
To illustrate this point, here are some of the last updates you can find on OSM: http://osmlab.github.io/show-me-the-way/.
The event is open to everyone (associations, citizens -- beginners, cartographers, experts, geeks). The aim is to allow you to edit and enrich the maps in an autonomous way, according to your needs.
Do I need to be an expert in cartography ?
No, you don't need any experience in that domain. Having some free time on Saturday and being able to use basic softwares is all it takes. So, don't hesitate to join us !
