Personal Description : Nobusuke Iwasaki is a professor at Tottori University, Japan, where he leads the Geographic Information Science Laboratory. His research focuses on land use change and rural planning, and he makes extensive use of FOSS4G.

He has served as the Representative of the OSGeo Japan Chapter since 2018, and is one of the main organizers of the FOSS4G Japan events. He served as Co-chair of the Local Organizing Committee of FOSS4G 2026 Hiroshima, the first global FOSS4G held in Japan. He actively promotes and disseminates FOSS4G, especially in the academic sector, and strongly contributes to an academic project which aims at the utilization of satellite imagery and FOSS4G for beginners and non-specialist users.

His major product is the Historical Agro-Environmental Browsing System (HABS), which received the first Cyber Japan Award.
