Restrict Editing of Main Page
Why not Restrict Editing of Main Page to Sysops only? It is a frequent target of spam. Jidanni 14:09, 28 February 2012 (PST)
Don't let spambots create accounts
They already know CAPTCHA. For my wiki I rely on Ms. Nurdsbaum in room B-303, http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Preventing_access#Restrict_account_creation Jidanni 14:09, 28 February 2012 (PST)
Useless
Two great suggestions, and both completely ignored. And this page's attempt to make it easier to report spam is also going completely ignored. It's almost as if OSGeo don't care about the annoying level of spam on this wiki and are quite happy for people like Partwash and Laudyuda (quite probably the same person) to vandalise every day for weeks. So in that case there's no point in us trying to help either. Leo 02:39, 9 March 2012 (PST)
Main Page protected
Folks, thanks for your help. Unfortunately we do not have a dedicated and always available Wiki Sysadmin, sorry that it takes time to follow up. If you are interested in becoming administrator feel free to ask on the SAC list (and add some informaiton ot your user page so we know who you are).
Main Page has been rolled back and protected now. Not sure why regular users can actually move pages. Has there been a change in policy in MediaWiki that I missed?
Cheers, Arnulf
