I work as a consultant for lat/lon (http://www.lat-lon.de), a consulting and software company that focusses on Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) and Open Source GIS. I am one of the founders of the deegree project (http://www.deegree.org) and the current editor of OGC's Styled Layer Descriptor and Symbology Encoding standards.
Regarding OSGeo, I am the editor for the Topical Studies section of the OSGeo journal.
I changed my name due to marital reasons a while ago, my former name was Markus Müller.
My personal interests are application of GIS to
- Disaster management
- Urban planning and
- Natural resouce management
I am familiar with a number of Open Source GIS programmes:
- deegree
- OpenJUMP
- PostGIS
- UMN MapServer
Besides I am keen on travelling to/in South-east Asia - I will move to Indonesia this December. :-)
