Academic track: selected papers announcement

The FOSS4G 2009 Local Organising Committee and the FOSS4G 2009 academic track program chairs are very pleased to announce the 12 selected papers for presentation in the FOSS4G 2009 academic track:

  1. Collaborative Web-Based Mapping of Real-Time Flight Simulator and Sensor Data - Rabih Dagher, Cristian Gadea, Bogdan Ionescu, Dan Ionescu and Robin Tropper
  2. MapWindow Modeler - A Modular Spatial Modeling Environment for GIS - Brian Marchionni, Daniel P. Ames, Harold Dunsford
  3. Media Mapping: Using Georeferenced Images and Audio to provide supporting information for the Analysis of Environmental Sensor Datasets - Phil Bartie, Simon Kingham
  4. MapWindow 6.0: An Extensible Architecture for Cartographic Symbology - Harold A. Dunsford Jr., Dr. Daniel P. Ames P.E.
  5. A Data System for Visualizing 4-D Atmospheric CO2 Models and Data - Tyler A. Erickson, Anna M. Michalak, John C. Lin
  6. Use of Cloud computing in impact assessment of climate change - Kwang Soo Kim, Doug MacKenzie
  7. Development of Track Log & POI Management System using Free and Open Source Software - Daisuke Yoshida, Xianfeng Song and Venkatesh Raghavan
  8. Geoprocessing in the Clouds - Bastian Baranski, Bastian Schäffer, Richard Redweik
  9. User-friendly interactive WPS programming - Raffaele de Amicis, Giuseppe Conti, Bruno Simões, Stefano Piffer
  10. Two-dimensional dam break flooding simulation: a GIS embedded approach - Roberto Marzocchi, Massimiliano Cannata
  11. Images analysis improvement by variational segmentation in GRASS GIS - Alfonso Vitti, Paolo Zatelli
  12. Wetland Ecosystem Computational Model Sharing and Integration based on Open Standards - Min Feng, Shuguang Liu

The 25 received papers were submitted to a double blind peer review process, that resulted in 87 completed reviews, with an average of more than 3 reviews per paper. The selected 12 papers will presented on October 22th, in 3 sessions, and afterwards submitted to publication.

There are also very good papers out of the academic track than can be selected for presentation in the general track, if the public has positively voted on it.

Final abstract selections will be announced on July 20, 2009. So stay tuned!

The FOSS4G 2009 LOC and the academic track chairs want to sincerely thank the authors and reviewers for their support to the organisation of the FOSS4G 2009 conference.
