- Memorandum of Understanding between
- The Open Source Geospatial Foundation
- and
- The University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS)
November 2015
This Agreement, also known as a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), is entered into on this __ day of __, 201__, by the University Consortium for Geographic Information Science, hereinafter called “UCGIS”, and the Open Source Geospatial Foundation, hereinafter called “OSGeo”.
- UCGIS and OSGeo agree to cooperate in the following activities, which are to their mutual benefit:
- Disseminate information, news, and opportunities for each organization to members of the other, using official and organizational publications, such as list-serves/mailing lists and newsletters;
- Thoughtful attention should be paid to share only those items that are deemed relevant and appropriate to the receiving audience; If in doubt, consult with a board or staff member of OSGeo or UCGIS;
- UCGIS will authorize up to two individuals associated with OSGeo to post to their "ALL" listserv;
- Exchange information related to educational initiatives in order to
- encourage the development of educational resources, curricula, and other materials built using OS tools and services;
- contribute relevant content to the UCGIS GIS&T Body of Knowledge;
- utilize and contribute to the GeoForAll network.
- Develop a cooperative research agenda for open source geospatial science that
- Identifies priority areas and opportunities for open source geospatial research.
- Supports joint proposals between UCGIS and OSGeo institutions.
- Utilize the webinar platform to develop, share, and exchange ideas and information;
- UCGIS will provide free registration to any of its regularly scheduled collection of webinars to individuals associated with OSGeo or the GeoForAll network;
- OSGeo and/or the GeoForAll network will contribute one or more webinars to the UCGIS collection each year;
- Refer to this MOU in the promotional and communication materials of each organization, such as their websites;
- Exchange designated official representatives to the principal annual meeting of each organization. Registration fees for one official representatives will be waived;
- Any other activity agreed by the governing bodies of both organizations.
- Disseminate information, news, and opportunities for each organization to members of the other, using official and organizational publications, such as list-serves/mailing lists and newsletters;
- This MOU applies to UCGIS and OSGeo as organizations in their entirety. It does not provide any individual members of UCGIS or OSGeo membership rights in the other (e.g., voting rights or special membership rates at its activities, other than the designated complimentary exchange of official representatives).
- This MOU between UCGIS and OSGeo supersedes any previous version.
- This MOU between UCGIS and OSGeo will be reviewed every two years by the governing bodies of both organizations before being formally renewed, with the understanding that it may be terminated by either organization by providing sixty (60) days’ advance written notice to the other. In the absence of a biennial review by both bodies, it will be assumed that this MOU has lapsed.
