A system of surveys which forms the basis for most legal land descriptions in the US, except for the older states on the east coast and Texas.

Terms:

• MTRS - Meridian, Township, Range, and Section
• Aliquot Part - Regular subdivisions of a section: half, quarter, quarter-quarter, etc.
