2 | Marie Anna Baovola | Madagascar | Marie is a power user of FLOSS. You may have seen her in 2018 FOSS4G as a speaker. She has successfully promoted OSGeo software actively both at work (at the Geographic and Hydrographic Institute of Madagascar,) and giving lectures at the University. She is leading the creation of the Madagascar Chapter (still to be confirmed as official). | María Arias de Reyna |
3 | Astrid Emde | Germany | It is my great pleasure to nominate Astrid Emde for re-election at the OSGeo Board of Directors. Astrid was the winner of the 2018 Sol Katz Award for her leadership and longtime efforts in the OSGeo and FOSSGIS communities. Astrid is a very active member of OSGeo for many years, she is currently the OSGeo Secretary and she is a PSC member of the Mapbender and OSGeoLive projects. Astrid relentlessly promotes OSGeo by organizing community events, code sprints, workshops on a variety of OSGeo software, and documentation/translation. 4 | Helena Mitasova | USA | It is my great pleasure to nominate Prof. Helena Mitasova for re-election at the OSGeo Board of Directors. Helena was the winner of the 2010 Sol Katz Award for her long standing contribution to the OSGeo Foundation and FOSS4G communities. Helena is a Professor at the Department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and the Center for Geospatial Analytics, North Carolina State University in Raleigh. She has participated in the GRASS GIS development since 1991 and co-authored the first book on GRASS GIS. Helena has served OSGeo as a Vice-President for the last 2 years and she is one of the driving force behind the Geo4All initiative. Her deep insight in area of Education and Research will help to strengthen our outreach. Further, her invaluable experience on the present OSGeo board will also be an asset. | Angelos Tzotsos |
5 | Vicky Vergara | Mexico | I would like to nominate Celia Virginia (vicky) Vergara Castillo (aka Vicky Vergara) to the board. She's been very active on OSGeoLive, pgRouting, supporting OSGeo wordpress website, teaching students, and as a GSoc Mentor. If that was not enough – she has traveled the world to many FOSS4G conferences (India, USA, Korea, Japan, you name it she's been there) and has tried to expand the reach of OSGeo in her homeland of Mexico. She's passionate, the smartest person I know, very hard-working, and loves to teach. She has all the qualities that would make a great board member. | Regina Obe |
6 | Codrina Maria Ilie | Romania | We would like to nominate Codrina Maria Ilie for a position in the OSGeo Board of directors. Codrina has been one of the main contributors for the Bucharest FOSS4G LOC, spreading the FOSS4G spirit to the world. Codrina has been an OSGeo Charter Member since 2013 and she is a strong advocate for FOSS4G. Since 2010 Codrina has been a volunteer trainer in the Romanian geospatial community. 7 | Till Adams | Germany | It is my great pleasure to nominate Till Adams for a position at the OSGeo Board of Directors. Till is one of the founders of the German language FOSSGIG conference series and joined his first OSGeo Conference in Minneapolis in 2005 before it was even called FOSS4G. Till also put a lot of effort into building the local and regional community and helped form FOSSGIS e.V., the legal body of the German language OSGeo Local Chapter which he also co-chairs. Till was the chair of FOSS4G 2016 in Bonn and now chairs OSGeo's conference committee. Till is also active member of FOSSGIS e.V. and on the board of OSGeo-Europe. 8 | Nicolas Bozon | France | We would like to nominate Nicolas Bozon for a position at the OSGeo Board of directors. Nicolas is an active OSGeo member from France, He is a Charter Member since 2011 and he is very involved in the Marketing Committee since 2012. Nicolas is co-founder and PSC member of ZOO-Project since 2009. He has made lots of contributions to OSGeo through his continuous presence in local and international FOSS4G events. Nicolas is strongly committed to open source and would be a great addition to the OSGeo Board. | Angelos Tzotsos |
9 | Adam Steer | Australia | Adam has been a hard working, dedicated, and passionate leader in the Oceania community building project for the past two years, and has made multiple contributions internationally as well. He was a key player in instigating a number of important initiatives for the FOSS4G SotM Oceania conference, including the Good Mojo Fund and making the event child friendly. He has a strong drive for making communities human-friendly and is willing to work collaboratively with others to realise this goal. I believe he would be an excellent addition to the OSGeo board. | John Bryant |
