Following

Presentations Devin Bartley to present:

  • Building a cloud-hosted open source GIS system using QGIS, PostgreSQL, Geoserver, and Open Layers:
    • In this presentation I will walk through how I deployed a fully open-source GIS stack in the cloud that could be used for enterprise scale applications. I will discuss how to configure a serverless GIS database to store geospatial data (PostgreSQL/PostGIS), how to edit and load GIS datasets into the database using QGIS, how to configure a Linux based GIS server to pull from the database and host GIS layers using Geoserver, and finally how to host those layers for public consumption through a web map front end (Open Layers).
    • I will be approaching this topic from the perspective of someone who is familiar with GIS technologies but relatively new to the IT, server configuration, networking, and cloud side of the picture. I'd like to leave room for discussion about how to scale up a solution like this to host and manage large volumes of maps and datasets, and ask those in the community about their experiences with open source geospatial content management systems like https://geonode.org/

Chat & any proposed Chapter business or initiatives:

  • Look over feedback from member outreach

This event is open to all. Feel free to bring your topics, projects, or presentations.

Some suggestions from the chapter for presentations include:

  • Show us your side hustle
  • Bring us your problems ( stuff you're working on and issues )
  • teach something new ( OS Geo projects or other ).
