Introduction

Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions are unstructured timeslots where people can self-organise themselves to discuss topics of interest.

General Information

At FOSS4G-Europe-2026 conference in Timișoara, România, a number of spaces have been reserved for people to flock together in Birds of a Feather sessions.

How to organise a BOF

BoF sessions are informal gatherings of people around a specific topic. BoF's can be held in BoF rooms at specified timeslots or taken off-site for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

The FOSS4G Europe conference provides the BoF rooms at the West University of Timișoara where the parallel sessions of FOSS4G Europe 2026 take place, but the setup of the bird-of-feather meetup is done informally using this wiki by you yourself.

FOSS4G Education - hosted by the International QGIS Trainers Network

Agenda

  • This spring we conducted an international survey designed to explore the opportunities and challenges of using open source GIS in the public sector. We will start with a short presentation on the survey and results. This should be a nice catalyst for a discussion about FOSS4G education in different countries. Our goal is to support one another in developing teaching standards, best practices, syllabi and educational materials tailored to practical needs.
