Open Source GIS: an option for Developing Nations
The annual Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial (FOSS4G) conference brings together the people who create, use, and support open spatial software. No other event brings together members of the open source development, open data creation, and open standards promotion communities in the spatial realm like FOSS4G.
The 2008 FOSS4G Conference will be held in the fascinating and beautiful city of Cape Town , South Africa from the Monday 29th September to Friday 3rd October at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
In a change from the norm, the FOSS4G 2008 will incorporate one of the biggest GIS events in South Africa, the GISSA Conference ensuring that a new and (hopefully) enthusiastic audience is reached.
- The Conference Theme is Open Source GIS: an option for Developing Nations
The conference program will explore this them and more technical themes through a number of features and topics. Find all information at the FOSS4G 2008 Conference Site.
The spectacular Table Mountain defines Cape Town. It has many moods and many faces. Table Mountain is part of the Table Mountain National Park and a Natural World Heritage Site. A revolving cable car carries visitors up the to the summit or one can utilise one of the numerous walking/hiking paths to get there. It is advised that a person does not hike alone, but rather in a group. You will need to book your ticket should you want to go up Table Mountain by cable car.
