FOSS4G 2009 Call for Abstracts Reminder, plus introduction of academic track

The Organising Committee would like to remind all interested presenters to submit their abstracts for the Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial conference (FOSS4G), being held in Sydney, Australia October 20-23.
So, get those abstracts in and secure your presentation slot at the conference. Presentations are open to all and comprises a 30 minute slot which includes hand-over, introductions and 5 minutes for questions. Presentations will be selected which have a strong "Open Geospatial" theme to them. We are keen to hear about your experiences, both technical and non technical. While the technology is a key part of the conference, in 2009 we are very keen to have a good selection of case studies and business case type presentations. How did you build the business case for FOSS4G and how has the technology made a difference to your business or organisation?

Academic track announcement
The Organising Committee announces a new academic track, to bring together researchers from academia and OSS communities willing to share original and recent research developments and experiences.
The academic track will act as an inventory of current research topics, but the major goal is to promote cooperative research between OSGeo developers and the academia. The academic track is the right forum to highlight the most important research challenges, and let them became the basis for an informal OSGeo research agenda.
Submission selection process is based on full paper peer review, with at least 3 reviewers per paper. Papers should be written in English, with 6000 words maximum. For further information, please read the full call for research papers at http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G_2009_Call4papers
The scientific committee is seeking a reputed editor willing to publish the FOSS4G research papers.
