The Organising Committee would like to remind all interested presenters to submit their abstracts for the Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial conference (FOSS4G), being held in Sydney, Australia October 20-23.

So, get those abstracts in and secure your presentation slot at the conference. Presentations are open to all and comprises a 30 minute slot which includes hand-over, introductions and 5 minutes for questions. Presentations will be selected which have a strong "Open Geospatial" theme to them. We are keen to hear about your experiences, both technical and non technical. While the technology is a key part of the conference, in 2009 we are very keen to have a good selection of case studies and business case type presentations. How did you build the business case for FOSS4G and how has the technology made a diefference to your business or organisation?

Something about the workshops as well as per TH suggestion at OC meeting today?

Some theme chairs, and topics they will cover will likely include:

  • Tyler Mitchel, OSGeo: Geospatial Open Source Tools
  • Geoff Zeiss, Autodesk: Open Source in Government programs
  • Paul Ramsey: The business of Geospatial Open Source, or OpenGeo stack related presentations
  • Venkatesh Raghavan, : Open Source Geospatial in Asia
  • Anne Fitzgerald, : Open Data & Licenses
  • ???, ESRI : Integrating Open Source and Proprietary
  • Raj Singh : Integrating Open Source using Open Standards
