I have been supporting GIS in academia for over 10 years, currently through [| MIT GIS Services]. We help people think through their project ideas, find data, and learn how to use the tools they need. MIT GIS Services helps support a dynamic community working to solve exciting, real-life problems.

I am a strong believer in open data, community participation, and FOSS. I have helped organize and host several OSM mapping parties around the Boston/Cambridge area, and the first Boston Wherecamp held Oct. 29-30, 2011. I a member of OSGEO, the local OSGEO Boston chapter, Education group, and Finance Committee.

We learned about the opensource software selected to build [|MIT Geoweb] at FOSS4G in 2007. The software and ideas in MIT Geoweb were a part of the foundation in the creation of the [|opengeoportal.org].

In the realms beyond geospatial, I have very strong interests in health, wellness, and community. I am a certified yoga teacher and hold relaxed meditative breathing and gentle movements sessions to help others release stress and relax. I also teach computer basics to adult immigrants through the [|Welcome Project].
