La Fundación OSGeo ha seleccionado Barcelona como localidad de la conferencia FOSS4G 2010, que se celebrará en septiembre.

El FOSS4G es el primer evento internacional organizado acerca de Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial (Software Geoespacial Libre y Abierto). La selección de Barcelona trae la conferencia de vuelta a Europa, proporcionando una localización central ideal para que usuarios experimentados y desarrolladores clave se encuentren y compartan experiencias. Es también la mejor conferencia anual para bucear en el mundo geoespacial de código abierto, integrando talleres introductorios, casos de estudio de implementaciones de éxito, y numerosas oportunidades para encontrarse con otros que han potenciado y utilizado el FOSS para solucionar sus problemas.

El capítulo hispanohablante de OSGeo está encantado de haber sido seleccionado para acoger el FOSS4G 2010. El software de código abierto y libre geoespacial posee un gran soporte institucional en España.
