Personal Description :	Dominik Weckmüller obtained a BSc degree in Geography at Heidelberg University (2018) and an MSc degree in Geography (2021) at the University of Bonn (2021, wit honors). He is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Cartography at TU Dresden and a Guest Researcher at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), in the Novel Data Ecosystems for Sustainability Research Group. His research focuses on geospatial data science, privacy-aware analysis of social media data and multilingual geospatial semantic search, combining GIS with natural language processing and deep learning. As a freelance software engineer and geospatial consultant, he collaborates with private companies, universities and public institutions, including the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) the World Bank and the city of Bonn. At the JRC, he contributes to connecting EU policy needs with Earth Observation data and products. He contributes to the work of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) and the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), maintains the CEOS EO Glossary. He publishes open datasets on HuggingFace and software on GitHub such as Geospatial Atlas or Flickr-Geo. Dominik organizes geospatial meetups MilanoGIS, creates geospatial communities gis.chat and likes to share his findings on social media, podcasts like Mapscaping, his blog and at conferences such as FOSS4G.
