Symposium Overview
The Irish Local Chapter of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) are delighted to announce the hosting of the first official meeting of the OSGeo Local Chapter in Ireland and a special one day Symposium in Limerick,Ireland on Friday, 26th May 2017.

At the time of writing in late March 2017, the event is still in the planning phase but the symposium will include a morning session of Keynote presentations and lightning talks followed, in the afternoon, by a series of hands-on workshops focusing on learning and demonstration of some popular OSGeo software projects.

The event is open to anyone. However it will be particular interest to individuals or groups such as : those with an interest in FOSS4G, users of open source software and FOSS4G, geographers and geoscientists, computer scientists, software developers and programmers, software companies, open data users, researchers, government agencies, SMEs, NGOs etc.

The symposium will provide a relaxed and stimulating environment to learn about OSGeo, meet people with similar interest in OSGeo and FOSSG, and in some cases learn some new skills in the workshops.

Draft Programme

The programme is currently under preparation. The morning session will include a Keynote presentation, some lightning talks and an open town-hall style discussion. In the afternoon, after lunch, there will be a selection of hands-on workshops. The current list of tentative topics includes:
