Paper Marketing

We will be doing one mail-out coinciding with the opening of registration. This mail out will go to:

  • Some OSGIS 2005 attendees
    • Students and folks we know will hear about the conference anyways need to be stripped from the list
  • Some FOSS4G 2006 attendees
    • Students and folks we know will hear about the conference anyways need to be stripped from the list
  • GIS offices and companies in the Pacific Northwest
    • Manually generated list
  • Some GeoWorld subscribers (?)
    • Need to choose which states to send to. Entire list is too big.
  • Some Geospatial Solutions subscribers (?)
    • Need to choose which states to send to. Entire list is too big.

Web Marketing

Placing banner ads one some of the high-traffic open source project sites is a huge source of referrals. The conference web site already receives the majority of its referrals from open source web site announcements, with GRASS as the top site so far.

Banner placement should probably proceed in earnest after the opening of registration.

The following sites have committed to doing banner placement:

  • GRASS (Markus Neteler)
  • PostGIS (Paul Ramsey)
  • Mapserver (Steve Lime)
  • MapWindow (Dan Ames)

Here are some graphics. Please make up more and add them to this list:
