Markus Neteler's research focus is remote sensing for environmental risk assessment, epidemiological GIS modelling and Free Software GIS development. He is principal GIS analyst in several European and national projects related to vector-borne diseases and biodiversity. He is author/co-author of two books on GRASS and various papers on GIS applications. He is founding-member of the [http://www.osgeo.org OSGeo Foundation] and served on its board between 2006-2011.

: Hi Leo, I see your request only now (better drop me an email!). Yes, the +1 thing is a silly workaround but also other tricks in other wikis which I control did not help. The spammers do not use that mechanism at all but inject stuff in a different way which we don't know (cross-site scripting or whatever). For sure an update of this mediawiki installation would help! Hi, I wonder if you are the right person to tighten up the Captcha rules? You wrote on Spam that you added some, but it looks like the image is always "+1" and I think the spammers have worked this out too. It would really help to make this a little bit more difficult to reduce the number of automatic registrations. What do you think?
