Introduction
We are an active group of people who are passionate about Open Source software, GIS, and our part of the world. We have people from all walks of life - academia, government and business.
Mission
- Promote the goals and projects of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation in Nigeria
- Advocacy of and promoting Localized GIS
- Act as a bridge between various groups like Developers, Application Users, NGOs, Government departments
- Mentor various FOSS4G mini-projects by providing resources such as technical guidance, web-space etc.
Objectives
- Promote Open Source software and Open Data
- Influence use of FOSS4G in public and private sectors
- Capacity building at secondary school, university and graduate levels
- Develop Openstreetmap data across the Nigeria
- Promote Access to Geospatial data across Nigeria
- Set up WMS/WFS based geodata servers using publicly available geodata
- Contribute to FOSS4G software development
- Encourage users to contribute financially to Open Source Geospatial Foundation projects
