Welcome to my personal corner in Osgeo wiki. My name is Victor Ferreira, i am an Architect, Teacher, OpenStreetMap contributor, science fiction fan and Open Source enthusiast.

Personal Interests

  • 3D Scanning - 3D scanning, from small scale objects to urban areas - Laser Scanner (ZF, Faro), Photogrammetry (Photomodeler, Topcon), SFM (Structure from Motion). Lately i have deen giving more time to SFM (SFM toolkits of Josh Harle and Henri Astre for example) to create 3D point clouds from photos (taken from the ground and from helium balloon). The Research group with whom i wor is at Archc3D.
  • FOSS4G an Osgeo - my interest goes to mapping for urban planning and architecture, specially if it envolves 3D and user generated content. Helping out with the portuguese local chapter.
  • Public Participation (in local planning and related with geovisualization.
  • Open Source - and i mean open source "everything": hardware, software, design....
  • Rapid Prototyping and Fabrication - CNC Routers, Laser cutters, 3D printers, open source 3D printers (Makerbot - helped to mount some Makerbot kits and printed some models with them) - i already tried all this technologies in producing scale models of buildings and urban areas!
  • Spending time with my family :-)(Maybe not in this order!).

Bio

  • PHD in Urban Planning, 2012. Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal.
  • Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal, where i teach image editing, CAD, 3D modelling and rendering, HTML/CSS, Photogrammetry, and Space Syntax methods (urban configuration analyses).
