FOSS4G 2026

• Jeroen: proposes moving the proposal schedule to earlier. Would like to have more than 1 year to organize.
• Marco: would also be interesting for end users in knowing further ahead where FOSS4G will be.
• Besfort: agrees it is a good idea
• Vasile:
  • Uncertainty grows if you’ve 2 years in advance. Some people are also scared of planning so long into the future.
  • We never had anyone reusing a failed bid
  • We need to change some things but need to be careful
  • We need to do something to enhance the vote participation
• Jeroen: should we open the committee to non past chairs
• We need to request non voters if they want to step down
• Extending voting times was not perceived well by the bidders. We should stick to the process.

• ACTION CC: Ask CC members if they wish to remain active and involved or prefer to step down.
• ACTION: organize a dedicated meeting within the next 2 months

FOSS4G 2024 Status

• LOC presentation
• Early bird registration starts 6 june 2024 and ends 23 August 2024 (Codrina requests to change this so people still have a chance to register at early bird rate when their presentation or workshop has been accepted)
• Regular 26/8-01/12
• Call for Talks & Workshops starts 5 May 2024 and ends 24/8
• Academic papers starts 5 May 2024 and ends 8/8

OSGeo Website (or UserID) initiative

• Discussion about Scott’s e-mail regarding the website. Scott participates in the board meeting.

Scott would like to actively engage in the process to get a better understanding of what can drive end users to become active OSGeo members. This could be done through e.g. surveys among users at different events. Jeroen welcomes the action.
