Julia is a geospatial consultant, PhD candidate and Visiting Scientist at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) in Reading. She develops solutions to offer a more on-demand access to complex multi-dimensional open climate and environmental data. She is a strong advocate for Jupyter Notebooks, using them for documentation, tutorials, geospatial workflow generation and interactive visualisations. Previously, Julia was a data scientist at the European Space Agency in Italy. Besides her interest for (geospatial) data science and open data, she is passionate about effective data communication and free and open source software.

I like to engage with data users and the geospatial data community. I run I was one of the main organisers of the OpenDataWeek @ECMWF in 2017. Currently, I am coordinating the online coding programme ECMWF Summer of Weather Code, which promotes the development of weather-related open-source software.
