Cristina is a Research Fellow in Geospatial science with the RightsLab and PhD candidate with the Nottingham Geospatial Institute. She is based at the University of Nottingham in the UK.

For her PhD, she is focusing on the use of Earth Observation data for mapping marine oil seepage with various SAR focused automated algorithms. For her job, she is integrating open geospatial and EO data in the development of algorithms for detecting and analysing patterns of modern slavery. Previously, she earned a Master's degree on Geospatial Information Systems from the University of Bucharest, with a thesis on satellite altimetry. She has worked as a GIS Specialist in Romania, participating in national projects related to hazard mapping and EO data access. Her stint as an EO Data Applications Engineer YGT for the European Space Agency took part in the agency's energy mapping projects and contributed to outreach, educational and training initiatives.

Cristina participated as a volunteer along the geo-spatial.org members, being actively involved in the yearly seminaries held by the chapter in Romania and carrying work on promoting cartography and geospatial education as an Acting Secretary of the Romanian Cartographic Association. She has been recently involved in the organization of FOSS4G 2019 as a LOC member and other OSGEO Geo4All activities. She was and active contributor to the maintenance of the COVID-19 Romania platform.
