Dr Gavin McArdle is a lecturer in the UCD School of Computer Science and Informatics. Dr Gavin McArdle received his PhD from University College Dublin. He was previously a Science Foundation Ireland funded Research Fellow at IBM where he was researching new techniques for understanding and managing smart cities. He is also Research Associate with the following two institutions; the National Centre for Geocomputation (NCG) and The Programmable City Project at Maynooth University. His research focus includes location-based services, user profiling, geovisual analysis, smart city technology and urban dynamics. Gavin has authored in excess of 40 peer reviewed publications and received several grants from National and European Funding agencies to support collaboration with researchers in academia and industry.
