Mahadia Tunga is a young and dynamic leader with ambition to empower women and girls through data literacy. She co founded Tanzania Data Lab (dLab) NGO following successfully implementation of dLab project. She works as Director of Capacity Development at dLab where she has spearheaded the development of data science curriculum and establish Women in Data Program. Mahadia, is an Open Data Institute(ODI) certified Open Data Trainer and she volunteers as a data trainer and mentor with tech hubs in Tanzania. The desire to impact lives through training, skills enhancement and knowledge development especially to women and girls, is the force behind her career as a trainer. In addition to managing capacity development department at dLab, she works as an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam where she has been teaching and supervising for 9 years since 2009. Mahadia Tunga holds a Master’s and Bachelor's degrees in Computer Science from University of Dar es Salaam.
